In Memory of Winnie

The worst part about owning a dog is having to say goodbye, and that goodbye often feels far too soon. Grief has a way of making us feel alone, and it’s not the easiest of topics to talk about. In those dark times I’ve often found comfort in the words & wisdom of others.

Gene Hill was a columnist for magazines including Guns & Ammo and Sports Afield. Gene once said that, "Nobody can fully understand the meaning of love unless he’s owned a dog. A dog can show you more honest affection with a flick of his tail than a man can gather through a lifetime of handshakes.”

That is the memory we have at the Den of Winie (Wolf Den’s Point’in Million Dollar Baby Wenonah). She was such a great puppy and had accomplished so much. We will miss her.

If you have lost a friend like Winnie remember that grieving is an important part of coping. When we have a specoial friend like Winnie the emotions can become overwhelming. Take some time out to grieve. Remember and celebrate the bond you had. Don't be afraid to cry. It takes time to heal.
